Huge sucess – World Champion Hungarian Champagne

Huge success: Hungarian champagne was chosen as the World Champion Classic Brut from a Non-Traditional Grape at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championship (CSWWC) 2018, Forbes reports. Kreinbacher 2013 Prestige Brut in Magnum is officially one of the best champagnes in the entire world.

This is an impressive achievement. At this world championship, it is usually champagne houses with a hundred-year-long history in the business, while the Kreinbacher Estate was founded quite recently, in 2002. Moreover, Kreinbacher works not only with grape varieties traditionally cultivated to make champagne (e.g. Chardonnay), but they work with the non-traditional grape type: furmint as well.

The Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championship is a very prestigious competition, where only the best of the best can get selected. It is “The most respected, comprehensive and rigorous international sparkling wine competition in the world.” It is also the only international wine competition where only champagnes and sparkling wines are judged.

This is the third year that the Hungarian Kreinbacher Winery entered the world championship. They won a medal each year, but being chosen as the World Champion Classic Brut from a Non-Traditional Grape is definitely their biggest achievement so far.
