Hungarian actors and actresses in famous Hollywood blockbusters

Hungarian actors and actresses appeared in some really famous Hollywood productions, and you might not even know it. Few of them just appear for seconds, some have short scenes, some have minor roles, and one actor was in the lead role.

So far, Daily News Hungary wrote about famous American celebrities with Hungarian origins, movies with Hungarian-speaking characters, and even listed every famous movie in which someone at least once utters something in Hungarian. Now, we are looking at Hungarian actors and actresses who, in some way or another, appeared in famous American movies.

Kata Dobó in 15 Minutes

15 Minutes is a 2001 German-American crime thriller film directed by John Herzfeld, starring Robert De Niro and Edward Burns. Its story revolves around a homicide detective (De Niro) and a fire marshal (Burns) who join forces to apprehend a pair of Eastern European murderers videotaping their crimes in order to become rich and famous. Hungarian actress Kata Dobó was originally tested for the female lead, but her English was not good enough, so she only appeared in a short scene. She also appeared in a deleted scene in Basic Instinct 2.

Iván Fenyő in Jarhead

Jarhead is a 2005 American biographical war drama film based on U.S. Marine Anthony Swofford’s 2003 memoir of the same name. It is directed by Sam Mendes, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Swofford, with Jamie Foxx, Peter Sarsgaard and Chris Cooper. Jarhead is a slang term used to refer to United States Marines. Hungarian actor Iván Fenyő was supposed to have a semi-medium role with longer scenes in the movie, but, unfortunately, his scenes were drastically cut, and he only appears for a few seconds.

Iván Kamarás in Hellboy 2 and others

Iván Kamarás moved to the United States to pursue acting in 2010. Since then, he has appeared in many American movies such as Hellboy 2, A Good Day to Die Hard, Spy or World War Z. He is also very open to acting in Hungarian productions as well. He often jumps on a plane right away when someone wants him to star in an upcoming Hungarian movie.

Béla Lugosi in Dracula

Dracula is a 1931 American vampire-horror film directed by Tod Browning and starring Hungarian Béla Lugosi as Count Dracula. The film was produced by Universal, and it is based on the 1924 stage play Dracula by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, which is loosely based on the novel Dracula written by Bram Stoker.
