Family of Hungarian former central banker moves most valuable assets to Dubai

Change language:

Reports from Hungarian media suggest that valuable assets belonging to Ádám Matolcsy, son of former central bank governor György Matolcsy, are being transferred from Budapest to Dubai. The move, reportedly already underway for weeks, involves high-value items such as luxury and vintage cars, furniture, and other possessions.

According to multiple sources, the assets have been packed into containers and transported by rail towards the United Arab Emirates. The shipment is expected to continue by sea from a European port before reaching its final destination. A Hungarian logistics company is said to be managing the process, with the involvement of an international partner.

Luxury assets and changing residence

Ádám Matolcsy is believed to be reducing his holdings in Hungary, selling some vehicles while relocating others abroad. He previously indicated that he had moved out of Hungary in 2021, later establishing a presence in Dubai, where he has rented and acquired high-end properties through business interests, reports 444.

The businessman has not publicly commented on the reasons behind the relocation of his assets. Earlier reports noted his interest in collecting high-value cars, including Porsche 911 Targa models, which he described as investment purchases intended to increase in value over time.

Sources also claim that György Matolcsy, former governor of Hungary’s central bank, has been spending significant time in Dubai in recent months, reportedly returning to Hungary only briefly and intermittently. An ongoing investigation is underway into financial losses linked to foundations associated with the central bank. Although an investigation has been launched, no suspects have yet been officially named.

  1. The Fidesz elite already has and is now accelerating the movement of the assets they stole from Hungary to places outside of the reach of a new government. They are lying bandits, a mafia group that has stolen from Hungarians and the EU for so many years.

    • It’s worth mentioning that the UAE has no extradition treaty with Hungary. In the event of a Tisza victory Matolcsy will be in Dubai, in fact, I strongly suspect he’ll observe the results of the election already outside the country. Orban meanwhile clearly cannot leave until the results are announced but in the event that he’s no longer PM he’ll be heading to the US for a ‘holiday to spend time with his grandchildren’ in a matter of days, probably flying on a Learjet courtesy of Washington.
