Hungarian EU commissioner called members of the European Parliament idiots – UPDATED

European Commission European Union Video

His microphone remained turned in.

According to telex.hu, Hungary’s Olivér Várhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, caused a scandal in the European Parliament yesterday. After one of his replies to a Croatian MEP, his microphone accidentally remained turned in, so everybody could hear how he scolded the MEPs in Hungarian.

After sitting down, Várhelyi asked, “Hány hülye van még?” (in English: “How many other idiots are still there?”).

I was one of those idiots asking Commissioner Varhelyi to sanction Dodiks alignment with Putin and to further accession talks with NM. Last year, the Parliament called for an investigation into this Commissioner’s functioning. High time to take it up ourselves. https://t.co/fJVKtxIA0G

Here is another video:

Based on a statement of the opposition Democratic Coalition Várhelyi should resign immediately. They expect Ursula von der Leyen, the chairwoman of the European Commission to fire him.

The European Parliament voted on an evaluation on 18 January about the work of the EC, saying that Várhelyi tries to bypass the importance of rule-of-law and democratic reforms. Therefore, the European Parliament initiated an investigation against the Hungarian commissioner then. Kinga Gál, an MEP of Fidesz, called the initiative unworthy and a political attack.

Várhelyi apologises for ‘misunderstanding over remarks’ at EP plenary

Hungary’s EU Commissioner Oliver Várhelyi has expressed “sincere regrets” over a “misunderstanding” in connection with remarks he made during Tuesday’s plenary session of the European Parliament. Hungary’s opposition Democratic Coalition on Tuesday demanded that the commissioner for enlargement and neighbourhood policy should resign without delay after he had been heard “calling deputies of the body idiots” through a microphone that was left turned on.

In a statement, Várhelyi said on Wednesday that his remarks had been taken out of context. What he said, the commissioner insisted, “was related to a private conversation” held in Hungarian with his cabinet chief on a completely different topic. Várhelyi added he fully respected all institutions of the EU and their representatives, and thanked MEPs for Tuesday’s plenary, which he called “an excellent opportunity to discuss the extremely important geopolitical issues of the Western Balkans”. He said he was looking forward to further European Parliamentary debates “in full respect of my inter-institutional obligations and the principle of straightforward cooperation”.

His only mistake was failing to realize that microphones are fickle and sometimes pick up what you don’t want them to.

Mr. Várhelyi is proving to be a worthy stunt double for László Trócsányi.

Our Politicians will be pleased (the hot mike bit – not so much)

It WILL as Hungary has been REPETATIELY told – since post February 2020 – WORSEN.
Orban – Hungary who are our FRIENDS?
Russia & China – we know that, but of Global country’s that are of DEMOCRACY- that ALL be DESTROYED by Victor Orban and his “lot.” – Hungary we NO friends.

Who was that other Fidesz flunky who was just examining the drain pipe below that gay orgy in Vienna? Seems like the same type of excuse to me.
