Hungarian FM calls for ‘turning up peace camp’s volume’
“It is high time we turned up the volume of the pro-peace majority,” Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Facebook on Thursday, adding that “the war in the neighbourhood is increasingly brutal, more and more people are dying and the risk of escalation is growing.”
“We need to save lives and it is only possible in peace,” he said.
Szijjártó noted the crucial role of international organisations in achieving peace, with special regard to the United Nations. “The UN, being the largest organisation, should not be politicised, since it has the largest chance to initiate peace talks,” he said.
Szijjártó welcomed that Trinidad and Tobago’s Dennis Francis would take over the presidency of the UN General Assembly in September, and called him “a man similarly committed to the cause of peace”. At talks in New York, they agreed on mutual support, he added.

So, Mr. Szijjártó. What blueprint for peace are you recommending? Starting point, say … Budapest Memorandum ?
Its as if the Hungarians are the only rational adults in the room and yet are still relegated to the status of favorite whipping boy of the west.
No, Peter’s peace plan is a piece plan, a piece of Ukraine for Russia and a piece of Ukraine for Victor. perhaps a piece of Romania for Hungary as well, like that “Hungarian” village that King Charles visitied . . .
@GS – where is the plan, proposal, approach, whatever?
Just rationally shouting “We Demand Peace!” is not conducive to anything.
