Hungarian government congratulates Trump on US election victory – UPDATE
Budapest, November 9 (MTI) – The Hungarian government congratulates Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election, the foreign minister said in a statement on Wednesday morning.
The American people have taken a decision; democracy has emerged strengthened from an “unprecedented election campaign,” Péter Szijjártó said.
Szijjártó said a new era has begun in global politics as well as in the economy which poses historic challenges to the whole world. Tackling these challenges requires “a new and courageous approach and new and innovative policies,” he added.
“Hungary stands ready for cooperation,” Szijjártó said in his statement.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has congratulated Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election. “Congratulations. What a great news. Democracy is still alive”, Orban wrote in a Facebook entry on Wednesday morning.

Foreign minister: Hungary expects ‘more efficient’ political cooperation with US
The Hungarian government is planning to build a “more balanced and efficient political cooperation based on mutual respect” with the United States, the foreign minister told the public media on Thursday morning.
Péter Szijjártó hailed Donald Trump’s election victory and a Republican majority in the US Senate as “positive developments”.
Business ties and defence cooperation with the US have been excellent, but political relations tended to be “chilly and unbalanced”, Szijjártó said, adding that the government’s goal was to rebuild those ties.
