Budapest, February 17 (MTI) – The prime ministers and foreign ministers of Hungary and Serbia held talks at an informal meeting in Subotica (Szabadka) late on Monday, the Hungarian prime minister’s press chief told MTI.

Prime Ministers Viktor Orban and Aleksandar Vucic, and Foreign Ministers Peter Szijjarto and Ivica Dacic discussed the energy security of the region and possibilities for boosting bilateral economic cooperation, Bertalan Havasi said.

They agreed to hold regular consultations about prospective new investments after the aborted South Stream gas pipeline project and cooperate in technical and financial preparations for those projects, he said.

Purchasing gas at a competitive price is in both countries’ interest and this can be ensured by a multiple option of alternative routes to Central Europe, Havasi said.
