Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in a letter congratulated Geert Wilders, the leader of the Dutch PVV party, on winning a parliamentary election in the Netherlands, his ministry said on Saturday.
Szijjártó wrote that Geert Wilders’ and his party’s “landslide victory proves that the issues raised by your political movement pertain to the heart of our societies and the that the Dutch voters rightly reflected on them”.
“You are undeniably a breath of fresh air in European politics”, wrote Szijjártó and added that cooperation could be further strengthened in the future. The minister recalled that he always enjoyed his conversations with Wilders and expressed hope that they would meet again soon.
Wilders in his response said “please thank Minister Szijjártó for his most kind letter and let him know that I do look forward meeting him soon again in Hungary or Holland”.

Well done, Wilders. It is time for you to demonstrate why it is advantageous to have a conservative government. It may even be possible to turn the Dutch churches back to their original designation from bicycle shops.
I wonder if Mr. Wilders has learned our language yet. He has been married to a Hungarian lady for over 30 years, after all.
Interesting to see how he emerges from his government formation talks. The Dutch political landscape is apparently a bit of a mosaic (with Muslims voting for him – because he promotes traditional values) and some of what he is suggesting is apparently illegal or contrary to the local constitution. This would be less of an issue, here, obviously!
Ah. False start to the formation talks. Mr. Wilders first pick (Mr. Van Strien, Senator from his party) was accused of fraud, it turns out.
