Hungarian league season gets underway today
The 2016/17 Nemzeti Bajnokság (National League) 1 season kicks off today with reigning champions Ferencváros looking to retain the title they won last season for the first time since 2004.
Strong competition is likely to come in the form of Henning Berg’s Videoton who were champions the season before last and perennial contenders Debreceni VSC. The two promoted teams Gyirmót and Mezőkövesd play each other on the first day of the season while Thomas Doll’s Ferencváros host Haladás. Here’s the rundown of the first-round fixtures:

Saturday 16th July:
