Hungarian man on the run after murdering ex-girlfriend in Austria: She asked for protection but got none

A Europe-wide manhunt is underway for a Hungarian man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in the head in a supermarket parking lot in Austria. The shocking incident has left the local community of Maria Alm in mourning, and residents are fearful that the suspect may return.

Hungarian Krisztián Papp murders ex-girlfriend

According to Hungarian tabloid Blikk, the victim, 34-year-old Jennifer Z., a German-born wine expert working at a local hotel, was killed around midnight on Saturday, 3 May. According to reports, she met with her former partner, 32-year-old Krisztián Papp, who was supposed to return her apartment key. During the encounter, an argument broke out. Papp drew a firearm and shot her at close range before fleeing in a rented vehicle. (Read our first report on the incident HERE.)

The tragedy unfolded in front of one of Jennifer’s friends, who had accompanied her for safety and witnessed the killing from a car mirror. Authorities have since launched an extensive search operation involving all patrol units, Austria’s elite Cobra task force, and rapid response teams. A European arrest warrant has been issued for Papp.
