Budapest (MTI) – A new contingent of 20 Hungarian police officers left for Serbia on Tuesday to help their local colleagues patrol the country’s border with Bulgaria.

The contingent will carry out border protection tasks in the Balkan region until December 6, the national police said on its website.

The Hungarian unit will also contribute jeeps, freight trucks and vehicles equipped with thermographic cameras to the joint mission.

Hungary currently has a total of 45 police officers serving on the Balkan route.
