Two Hungarian sexual predators arrested in the Netherlands: raids carried out at their workplaces

Two Hungarian men wanted for sexual offences have been arrested in the Netherlands, the National Bureau of Investigation (KR NNI) of the Hungarian Rapid Response Police reported on Friday via police.hu.

Hungarian sexual predators detained in the Netherlands

According to the statement, one of the men allegedly engaged in sexual relations on multiple occasions in spring 2021 with a girl under the age of 14, and on several occasions supplied the minor with drugs. The investigation was initiated by the Dunakeszi Police Department. During the proceedings, investigators identified the suspect, who subsequently became untraceable, and his whereabouts could not be determined. Consequently, both domestic and European arrest warrants were issued, as authorities suspected he had fled abroad.

In the other case, the Budapest Police Headquarters conducted an investigation into aggravated human trafficking. Evidence suggested that the man, abusing his position of power and influence, forced a victim in an extremely vulnerable situation to engage in sexual acts over an extended period. This suspect also became untraceable during the investigation, prompting the authorities to issue an arrest warrant and initiate European and international searches.

Arrest made through Dutch-Hungarian cooperation

Investigators in Dunakeszi and Budapest requested assistance from the KR NNI’s targeted search unit to apprehend the fugitives, as evidence indicated both were in the Netherlands. Through the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST), Hungarian officers contacted their Dutch counterparts, and through close cooperation, the suspects were located.

Róbert K. was arrested on 23 September in Zwolle by Dutch police, while Ferenc V. was apprehended on 28 September in Beuningen. Both were detained at their workplaces—a restaurant and a shop—when the raids took place. The Dutch courts will decide on the extradition of the two Hungarian fugitives, while the Hungarian National Police will handle their transfer to Hungary.
