Hungarian soccer fed welcomes Infantino FIFA victory
Budapest, February 27 (MTI) – The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) welcomes the election of Gianni Infantino as FIFA president, MLSZ Vice President Sándor Berzi said on the federation’s website on Saturday.
Berzi said MLSZ has reason to be happy with the outcome of the election, as Infantino was the preferred candidate of the Visegrad Six alliance of soccer federations of Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and Liechtenstein.
Berzi spoke to the website after returning from Zurich, where soccer’s governing body voted on a replacement for Sepp Blatter, who resigned last year amid a corruption scandal.
The vice president said Infantino ran for the presidency with a comprehensive agenda and it was his knowledge, experience and pleasant personality that helped convince the majority of national federations that he is the right man to lead and reform FIFA in these difficult times.
