An intense game between the Hungarian Tímea Babos and the Czech Lucie Safarova ended victoriously for the former: the first two sets were a great fight, but when in the third set Babos owned two serves of Safarova which eventually became of great significance and led Babos to win the whole match, 6:7 (4-7), 6:4, 6:3.
An audience of 1800 spectators sat watching the 2-hour-20-minute-long game of the two tennis players in Budapest. It was the third WTA victory for Babos in the BOK Hall (Budapest Olympic Centre), for she won games in Monterrey (2012) and Taiwan (2015) earlier.
Her Czech opponent played in the final of the Grand Slam (2015), was also a finalist of the 2015 Roland Garros and won bronze at the Olympics in Rio. The 23-year-old Hungarian is placed 32rd on the world ranking, while Safarova’s name can be seen on the 47th position.
