Hungarian women earn one-fifth less than their male counterparts
(MTI) – Hungarian women earn, on average, about 21 percent less than men, according to data collected by fizetesek.hu, a salaries site run by jobs portal Workania.
The fresh data show men earned on average 220,000 forints (EUR 710) a month last year, while women took home just 173,400 forints.
Hungarian women have earned 21 percent less than men since 2011. In the years before that, the difference was 23 percent.
The difference between men’s and women’s pay gets bigger the higher the position, Workania said. Top women managers make 26 percent less than their male counterparts. Those in middle management earn 18 percent less. The difference for positions requiring university degrees, but not in management is 16 percent, and the gap is 12 percent for administrative jobs.
In the service sector the difference is 19 percent.
