Hungarian wrestler finishes his career with glorious gold in Tokyo 2020!
The wonderful day rich in medals continues in Tokyo! Tamás Lőrincz crowned his career with an Olympic gold after defeating Kyrgyz Akzsol Mahmudov in the final of the 77 kg weight group of Greco-roman wrestling.
The 34-years-old wrestler crowned his career with a glorious success: he collected the gold medal missing from his career after one World and four European championship titles. M4Sport writes that nine years ago, he won a silver medal at the London Olympic Games – at that time in 66 kgs.
With the success of Tamás Lőrincz, he not only completes his collection of medals but also retires as the reigning Olympic, World and European champion of the weight class.
It is exciting that in tomorrow’s program, his brother Viktor Lőrincz will step on the mat in the 87 kg final. They had a big dream: they wanted to get on the podium at the Olympics together – well, it will happen!
“It’s unbelievable this was given to me, even being here at my fourth Olympics at almost 35 years old. I can’t believe this, I’m so happy!” said the champion.
As we reported in the morning, the Hungarian team enriched the collection with many medals today. Since then, even the women’s water polo team has reached the semifinals.
Congratulations to the fantastic athletes!
