‘We Hungarians belong together’: Pilgrimage across borders celebrates national unity

“We Hungarians belong together, here in the heart of Europe, in the Carpathian Basin,” Balázs Hankó, the minister of culture and innovation, said on Saturday in Săcueni (Szekelyhíd), in north-western Romania, at the starting point of the pilgrimage to Álmosd in Hungary.
Hankó participated in the pilgrimage between Săcueni and Álmosd, led by Franciscan monk Csaba Böjte, which, by crossing the Romanian-Hungarian border, was intended to symbolise the unity of the Hungarian nation.
The minister gave a welcoming speech for the pilgrimage at the “Love Trail”, which commemorates the love of poet Sándor Petőfi and Júlia Szendrey. Hankó said that from love comes family, from family children, and from children a future. “And from the many Hungarian families, a nation that will last forever will emerge, because this is our mission.”
