Hungarian athletes shine at Canoe Sprint European Championships with 4 gold medals!

Hungary delivered a stellar performance on Saturday at the Canoe Sprint European Championships in Račice, Czech Republic, securing a total of seven medals: four golds, one silver, and two bronzes.

Golden day for Hungary

One of the standout victories came from the women’s K4 500m team, made up of Sára Fojt, Noémi Pupp, Laura Ujfalvi, and Emese Kőhalmi. According to HVG, the quartet claimed gold in a dominant performance, leaving their competitors behind. “We’re extremely happy, we still can’t quite believe the gold is ours,” said stroke paddler Sára Fojt. She noted that their heats were promising, and even in training, they felt confident about their strength as a team.

Zsóka Csikós, 24, added another gold in the women’s K1 1000m, taking the lead right from the start and never giving it up. She is also set to compete in Sunday’s K1 500m final, where she is a strong contender for another medal.

Other notable results at the Canoe Sprint European Championships

Hungary’s mixed C4 500m team – Réka Opavszky, Kristóf Kollár, István Juhász, and Zsófia Csorba – earned a silver medal in a competitive race.

Bronze went to Ágnes Kiss and Bianka Nagy in the women’s C2, while Olympic champion Bálint Kopasz, who had been battling illness in the two weeks leading up to the race, finished third in the men’s K1 1000m. He was narrowly beaten by Portugal’s Pimenta and Sweden’s Nethall, who edged him out by just one hundredth of a second.
