Breaking: Liverpool signs Hungarian goalkeeper in club record deal

Premier League giants Liverpool FC have officially signed Hungarian goalkeeper Ármin Pécsi from Puskás Akadémia, the Hungarian club announced this week. The 20-year-old talent joins the English champions after completing his medical and signing his contract with the Reds.
According to Puskás Akadémia, the transfer fee paid by Liverpool represents a club record for the Hungarian side, though the exact amount was not disclosed.
“This club raised me, here I became a top-flight footballer and a professional player,” Pécsi said in an emotional farewell message. “I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped me during my academy years—especially my goalkeeper coaches and former trainers. I’m taking only good memories with me from both the youth and senior teams. This opportunity was simply too big to pass up.”

Pécsi had an outstanding season with Puskás Akadémia, making 30 appearances in Hungary’s top league and keeping nine clean sheets, helping his team secure a second-place finish. He made his senior debut earlier this year, on February 4, after progressing through every youth level since joining the academy in 2017.
His performances have also earned him a spot among the top 100 U21 players in Europe. With a Football Benchmark Golden Boy Index score of 67.9, Pécsi ranks 47th on the prestigious list for players born after 1 January 2004, just behind names like Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal.

He now joins fellow Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai at Liverpool, further raising Hungary’s profile in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
