Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has joined 21 other European leaders in signing a joint letter criticising Spain’s handling of a recent migration surge, warning that recent developments could undermine the protection of the European Union’s external borders.
The initiative follows reports that nearly 50,000 irregular migrants crossed into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta from Morocco over recent days, prompting calls for a coordinated European response.
Joint letter urges stronger EU border protection
According to Foreign Minister Anita Orbán, the 22 heads of state and government argue that the Spanish government’s response risks weakening the EU’s external border controls.
The letter reportedly calls for coordinated action at EU level to strengthen border protection and warns against creating the impression that entering the bloc illegally could eventually lead to legal residency.
The signatories also said they are prepared to consider temporarily reintroducing internal border controls within the Schengen Area if necessary.
Hungarian government links surge to Spanish court ruling
In a Facebook post, Orbán said the recent events recalled the 2015 migration crisis, when Europe experienced large-scale irregular border crossings.
She also suggested that a ruling issued earlier this month by Spain’s Supreme Court may have contributed to the recent surge. According to the Hungarian government’s account, the court ruled that people arriving by sea could not be immediately returned, a decision the signatories believe may have encouraged further crossings.
Spain says most arrivals have already returned
Orbán said she had been in continuous contact with her European counterparts and that Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares confirmed that around 49,000 people had already returned to Morocco. Nevertheless, she argued that the scale of the incident justified the joint appeal by the 22 European leaders.

Calls for emergency EU coordination
The signatories are urging the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union to convene an emergency video conference of EU interior ministers to coordinate the bloc’s response. They are also calling for stronger support from Frontex, the EU’s border and coast guard agency, and a review of cooperation with Morocco on migration management.
Hungary reiterates opposition to illegal migration
Orbán said every EU member state, including Spain, shares responsibility for protecting the Union’s external borders. “The Hungarian government will continue to stand firmly against illegal migration and defend Hungary’s borders under all circumstances,” she wrote.

“Spain says most arrivals have already returned”
Herein lies the problem. It should read “most arrivals have already BEEN returned.”
This comes on the heel of something much worse, which drew almost no protests from these “heads” of state: Spain’s communist prime minister recently granted legal residence to almost ONE MILLION illegal aliens, even those who had arrived to Spain just a few months ago.
Many further millions who came into Europe illegally since that witch (with a capital B) Merkel threw open Germany’s border in 2015 are also still on the continent, most of them now with legal residence. Chain migration from them will bring in TENS of millions more.
These are all third-world people and other humanoids, most of whom are at best semi-literate, uneducated, unskilled, religiously zealous, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, with an I.Q. of well below 80. They will never integrate, they will never work, they will never contribute anything of any value, and many will do the opposite. Huge swaths of Europe have been disfigured beyond recognition by them
And still they keep coming, by the day, and very few are ever sent back. It’s very telling that the Spanish “police” were out in force when the Ceutans took to the streets to protest, and spared no effort to corral and push back the protestors, neither of which they did to the hordes of invaders.
Says it all.
Europe is lost.
If Hungary wants to have a chance of surviving, it will need to leave the E.U., together with other countries who have not yet been destroyed. The Berlin Wall will need to go up, but this time to protect the “Eastern bloc.”
The same old bullshit from Stupid Steiner SS.
How the heck you measured the IQ of those people?
I started thinking that you may got raped from a migrant before so that you are that intense at those topics 😂😂😂
Are you european at all? what are you doing here? go back to where you came from!
such a scumbag
More anti-EU propaganda from this Russian account. Leaving EU would simply be the worst decision ever for Hungary. EU just needs to pressure Spain for better border protection and clear procedures for returning illegal migrants back to where they came from. And EU needs to make sure that those (e.g. Fidesz government) who let out human traffickers run free without proper punishments should pay for their actions.
Call orban. What you like and he did make major errors leading up to the election this is what happens when you have too much power , however the govt was spot on with illegal migration and they were vilified for their stance , the eu are now reaping what they sowed , Europe will never be the same again , the genie is out of the bottle
The same Orbán who let free more than 2000 illegal human trafeckers? 😂😂😂
Grandad has been pensioned off. He’s issuing dictats from his care home. Nobody cares, there’s a new kid on the block.
Had 50 thousand Moroccans landed on the coast of Spain I’d be concerned. The reality is that they entered Ceuta, a postage stamp sized territory that abuts the Moroccan border on the African continent. Ceuta is not part of Schengen, the only way off the peninsula is by ferry or helicopter to the Spanish mainland which involves undergoing immigration checks. Spain and the wider Schengen territory was never under threat.
Moroccans are not entitled to claim asylum in any case, they know this which is why the majority have already left Ceuta, those that haven’t will shortly be expelled. It made for a dramatic headline and without doubt it was a shocking incident for Ceuta residents but the reality is that this was a storm in a tea cup that some people sought to use to generate political capital. For the Moroccans involved in was a fun day out, akin to a bunch of teenagers breaking into Disneyland without tickets and running amok while eating all the candyfloss.
Well illustrated Steve.
The most important question that who made those claims regarding the mirgation?
Most likely who is behine Steiner as well… The Mossad.
