Hungary gets observer status in Pacific Ocean Alliance
Budapest (MTI) – Hungary has won observer status to the Pacific Ocean Alliance, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Sunday, adding that this is the first major diplomatic result of its policy of southern opening.
The ministry lodged its official request in April, the statement noted. The decision was made at the start of July by the alliance’s (Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru) four heads of state and government.
Hungary will join in the alliance’s work in the areas of water management, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, a scholarship programme dubbed Stipendium Hungaricum and education, the ministry said.
