Budapest, January 12 (MTI) – Hungary is joining the international technology transfer network of the European Space Agency (ESA).
Hungarian enterprises will have access to the proprietary knowledge and developments of space research in the future, Domokos Szász, vice-president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, MTA on Thursday.
Balázs Károly Solymár, deputy state secretary of the national development ministry, said space research also helps to solve everyday problems in areas such as health care as well as increasing the efficiency of industrial production.
Due to the ESA accession, Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises and research laboratories can introduce space technology developments in a number of industrial fields, such as the automotive industry, energy, as well as the construction and medical equipment industries. Solymár added that Hungary contributes 2.3 billion forints a year to the ESA, a significant part of which can be recouped by Hungarian enterprises.
