Hungarian pharmacies announce price restrictions

Local pharmaceutical sector players have started announcing voluntary price restrictions, National Economy Minister Márton Nagy said in a post on social media on Wednesday.

Nagy said the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (AIPM), the Hungarian National Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (MAGYOSZ) and listed pharma company Gedeon Richter were the first to announce steps.

He called the measures to reduce household spending on drugs “further proof of the strategic partnership between the government and the local pharma sector” and acknowledged the sector’s “exemplary social responsibility”.

Nagy said the goal was a shared one: to ensure safe medicines at affordable prices.
