Hungary welcomes Tymoshenko’s release
(MTI) – Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi on Saturday evening welcomed the release of Yulia Tymoshenko from prison.
According to a foreign ministry statement, Martonyi welcomed the vote by Ukrainian lawmakers in the day for the release of the former prime minister. He said that “a long procedure urged consistently by the EU has been brought to an end.”
He expressed hope that this recent development would also contribute to the stabilisation of a democratic, economically prospering and territorially unified Ukraine that fully respects human rights and the principles of rule of law. This must be based on the will of the Ukrainian society, said Martonyi.
Hungary is ready to extend all possible help towards this goal, the ministry statement said.
