Hungary withholds support for EU’s 800 billion euro defense plan
The parliamentary state secretary for EU affairs said on Monday that the government will not risk Hungary’s sovereignty.
In a Facebook post, Barna Pál Zsigmond said that while progress had been made towards peace in recent weeks thanks to the new “pro-peace” US administration, Brussels was “seeking new resources to escalate the conflict” in Ukraine. Zsigmond said the EU has put forward an 800 billion euro defence plan along with a joint borrowing proposal, and even wanted to divert cohesion funds towards its rearmament push.
He said Hungary did not support the 800 billion euro plan because it did not see how it would be covered. “There are some who would fall in line in exchange for a bit of sovereignty, and if Brussels so wished, would even mortgage Hungary’s sovereignty for Ukraine,” the state secretary said. Zsigmond said the longer the war between Russia and Ukraine went on, the sooner the rearmament plan would “bankrupt” the continent.
Europe, he said, had “suffered a lot of economic damage because of Ukraine”. “We’ve seen the damage done in agriculture, the difficult situation endured by lorry drivers, the skyrocketing energy prices and the wartime inflation,” he said.
“We Hungarians therefore take a clear stand for peace,” Zsigmond said. “We don’t support weapons deliveries to Ukraine, because they … only serve to prolong the war.” “We don’t support joint borrowing,” he said, arguing that a “debt union” would trap member states. “Hungary will not become a tool for more political blackmail,” the state secretary added.

Russia has declared war on Europe and the starting point is Ukraine. Putin will not stop there. He will attack the Baltics and possibly Poland next. Fidesz wants to leave Europe defenceless from Russian aggression. If the EU did what Fidesz wants Putin would run over Europe with his well developed war machine that he now controls. Hungary under Fidesz is a cancer on Europe that needs to be isolated and cut out to save everyone else.
Its LONG Overdue – but in ALL that is REQUIRED of the European Union – right at this point in time, all that the name the European Union have “ownership” of – or invested interest in, that FALL under DEMOCRACY, the outing, the culling of the name HUNGARY – as a member country of the European Union – must be REMOVED.
Hungary is not a DEMOCRACY.
Hungary, in it’s Parliament to-day – the ceasing of a yearly event conducted by the – Pride LGBTQ members of there “ageing” and decreasing population that is FACT of Hungary.
Hungary – it NOW has EXPLODED – it’s somewhat official is a Dictatorship.
Hungary – through the name Orban – will pay rightfully – a HEFTY price.
Ahhh … “Pro Peace!”. The US and Ukraine agreed to a thirty day cease fire. However – You-Know-Who is not playing ball. No ceasefire. Well – stop attacks on energy infrastructure, which would benefit Russia more than Ukraine. Ask Mr. Szijjártó how “Unacceptable!” this is (Ukraine’s strikes on Russian infrastructure, no vice versa)
So much for “Peace!” – the aggressor just wants the spoils of Special Military Operation. They want it all – and they want it now. Cheered on by our Politicians… And then, Russia will just stop any further aggression against neighbors, right? Send the armed forces home?
