Hungary’s fish of the year competition: Zingel, perch fight for first place
(MTI) – Hungary’ nature conservationists have once against organised the annual fish of the year competition and the top contenders at the popular vote to end on December 31 are the common zingel and the European perch.
Head of the Hungarian Nature Conservationists organisation Akos Harka told MTI on Wednesday that the sichel has just recently fell behind in the competition and now in the final race the zingel and the European perch have developed a strong advance.

Last year’s competition was won by the burbot, followed by the cactus roach and the sun bleak.
