A new wave of snowfall arrived in Hungary – here’s the latest report

Electricity, gas, water and waste collection services are operating normally, there are no disruptions anywhere, no settlements are cut off in the country and no roads are closed, the spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Directorate (OKF) said on Tuesday. The last time we had this much snow was back in 2012.
Extreme winter weather to remain in Hungary
Lieutenant Colonel Dániel Mukics told a press conference that the operative board had held its first meeting in the morning, led by Interior Minister Sandor Pinter.
According to weather forecasts, the extreme winter weather will continue for a few more days, with temperatures possibly dropping to minus 15 degrees Celsius, and up to 20 centimeters of fresh snow falling in the southern part of the country from Tuesday afternoon, he said.

Brief power cuts
He said that no settlements in the country were cut off and no roads were closed. He added that there were no power outages anywhere, although on Monday there had been brief power cuts at 475 consumption points, typically due to broken branches and fallen trees. In Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, in northeast Hungary, power had been cut off for a few hours at 30 consumption points due to a car colliding with an electricity pole, he said.
