RTL: Police found the missing 1-year-old child of one of Hungary’s richest men

Change language:
The disappearance of a one-year-old child has been at the centre of attention in the past couple of days. According to Hungarian media sources, the father of the child is one of Hungary’s richest men, featured on Forbes’ top 50 wealthiest Hungarians list. The mother, a Belarusian-born lawyer, took the child to Minsk without the father’s knowledge. While they were located within days, Hungary’s lack of an extradition treaty with Belarus makes it difficult for the father to regain custody.
One-year-old child went missing
As Blikk writes, Hungary’s richest men have been drawn into a dramatic case involving the disappearance of a one-year-old child. The mother, a high-ranking manager linked to the Golden Visa Hungary programme, reportedly left the country a couple of days ago without informing the Hungarian father or her relatives. Despite police efforts to locate both mother and child, no criminal offence was established, as the woman had legal custody. Authorities confirmed that while the father has the right to seek joint custody, the police cannot intervene unless a court order is violated.

Legal action faces challenges
The mother and child have now been removed from the wanted list, with reports confirming that the woman is a 37-year-old Belarusian-born London lawyer. According to RTL News, she took the child to Minsk without informing the Hungarian father. This development complicates the case, as Hungary has no extradition treaty with Belarus, making legal action more challenging. Enikő Nagy, from the Hungarian police, clarified that missing persons are registered immediately, and investigations begin without delay.
