US VP JD Vance incoming: half of Budapest to be closed off, chaos expected en route to Budapest Airport

Change language:
JD Vance, the US Vice-President, is to arrive in place of Donald Trump to bolster Viktor Orbán’s campaign in its final push, spending Tuesday night in Budapest. His arrival and daytime movements will prompt the temporary closure of half the Hungarian capital, with central streets and squares particularly affected. The restrictions will also impact Budapest Airport, where public transport authority BKK urges all travellers to set off in good time to ensure they catch their flights.
JD Vance due in Budapest tomorrow
As we reported, Vance will touch down in Budapest on Tuesday, 7 April, in the morning for talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and to attend an afternoon event highlighting the closeness of US–Hungarian ties alongside the Hungarian leader.

The visit cannot be divorced from the Hungarian elections scheduled for 12 April, where—for the first time since 2010—polls show Orbán’s Fidesz party trailing Péter Magyar and his Tisza Party. Although Trump was once tipped to rally behind the Hungarian prime minister’s campaign, that now seems unlikely; some analysts suggest it is because even Trump no longer believes Orbán can win and is loath to back a lost cause.
Budapest traffic altered from early this morning
To accommodate the Vice-President and his wife, Usha Vance, half of Budapest will be temporarily sealed off, making journeys to Budapest Airport far trickier at certain times. Police say Vance’s convoy will arrive at the airport between 7am and noon on Tuesday, then proceed via the M4–M0–M3 motorway slip road–Kacsóh Pongrác Avenue overpass–Kós Károly Promenade–Hősök Square–Andrássy Avenue–József Attila Street–Széchenyi István Square–Lánchíd–Clark Ádám Square–Lánchíd Street–Ybl Miklós Square–Apród Street–Szarvas Square–Attila Avenue–Dózsa György Square–Palota Avenue–Dísz Square–Szent György Street route. Sections of this path will be closed in phases to match the delegation’s progress, while no-parking zones—roughly 50 metres deep—will be enforced on approach roads from 6am today.

From Buda Castle, Vance will head to Zugliget on Tuesday afternoon, with police again closing the route in phases; no-parking rules on side roads take effect from this morning. On Wednesday, 8 April, the stretch from Hegyalja Avenue to the Parliament building will face phased closures from 8am to 11am.
Budapest Airport access tricky at two key times
Vance will later depart from the US embassy on Szabadság Square for Budapest Airport, with police scheduling this between 2pm and 5pm on Tuesday—again closing much of the aforementioned route in phases.

Budapest Airport will thus face traffic curbs at two junctures: on the delegation’s Tuesday morning arrival, and during Wednesday afternoon departure. The airport operator has issued a dedicated Facebook post imploring passengers to factor in extra travel time on both days and to monitor BKK updates.

It’s a waste of jet fuel for Vice Warmonger In Chief Vance to make an appearance during his war of aggression against Iran which is choking the world economy and causing chaos to everyone. Fascist Yankee go home. You’ve made enough trouble for the world. We will be rid of your fascist friend Orban quite soon.
Shilling for a regime whose officers arrest young women merely for protesting, sentence them to death, and the rape them before execution so their souls can’t enter heaven.
Great going, sicko.
The issue isn’t in seeking to tackle Iran, it’s in the execution, exhibiting a total failure in strategic planning, now causing severe pain for the entire world. But what else would one expect from the contemptuous loser Trump administration who couldn’t plan their way out of a paper bag? While we’re suffering we’re also howling with laughter at the US which is being guided by the genitals by Tel Aviv with a long standing axe to grind.
Hey, Michael – Larry is right – this war is criminal, and, no, we, as Americans, are in absolutely in no position to judge other nations, because we poison our children with toxic foods, poison vaccines, self-hating ideologies, ungodly ways, all the while we tell our young ladies that the only way they can be fulfilled as people is to act like ungodly men.
As a White Southerner, I long ago grew tired of being constantly called out for our racism, Jim Crow, and slavery, when the New England Yankee society that, with their Zionist friends, runs this society, slaughters peoples mind, souls, and bodies, while replacing our people and righting wars for foreign corporations and nations, under false pretences.
It’s sad that good guys, such as yourself, actually believe that we are morally in a position to tell anyone what to do.
If we had that moral authority, before the president I have 3 times supported, and, to tell the truth, love, we lost it when he decided to bushwhack Iran’s leaders, their wives, their daughters, and even their dang pets.
That is plain despicable – hall of fame despicable.
It really is the worst visitor at the worst time. The only visitor worse would be the President himself, albeit some Fidesz sympathisers would be star struck and bowled over that he spared the time to visit his flagging buddy in a tiny country. JD is really a pointless use of scarce jet fuel that would be better spent gassing up an American Eagle flight from Des Moines to Salt Lake City carrying carpet salesmen to their annual conference.
Interesting perspective, Draga István, because, before i read your comment, I was wondering what Hungarian would change his vote just because of what the vice president of my country thinks.
‘Fascist Yankee go home.’
You almost sound like a Rural White Southerner, Larry!
What happened?
A FURTHER “gap” widener, in the DOWNFALL of Victor Mihaly. Orban and his Fidesz Government.
JD Vance – will NOT be a welcomed visitor to Budapest, Hungary – for ALL the Right Reason’s.
WILL the Cardinal of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, the “supposed” faith of JD Vance – will Cardinal Peter Erdo of Hungary – through his “of public knowledge” and personal acknowledgement of his respect & support of Victor Mihaly. Orban – will he be at the end of the Red Carpet in greeting welcoming JD Vance to Hungary ???
Cardinal Peter Erdo – retirement age 75 nears, a rightful time, for your “penciled” letter to be INKED and sent to Rome to RETIRE – let in some NEW Light into the Holy Roman Catholic Church of Hungary.
The Head – the “Shepherd” of the Hungarian Holy Roman Catholic Church – the need of your OBEDIENCE to the “Chair of St. Peter” in Rome, extreme discernment & consciousness PRESSURE must be upon YOU, from what Rome is telling you to PREACH – but what your reputation – your history, your alignment to Victor Mihaly. Orban – your SUPPORT has is based PREACHED upon.///
April 12th = the opportunity presents it-self for US as individuals, our families – the FUTURE of our country the time for our RESURECTION from the depths of despair the PLACE the name – Victor Mihaly. Orban & Fidesz have DELIVERED us.
April 12th – our Hope of a FUTURE that if we don’t “rid” our-selves of the names like Orban, Erdo and the Political Party name Fidesz – to “rid” clean out RETIRE names that have been FAILURES to million upon million of Hungarians if we don’t “rid” them our FUTURE as a country could be Perilous.
Dieser Besuch wird Orban viele Stimmen kosten. Auch die Bürger in Ungarn verachten diesen Krieg der von Israel und den USA angezettelt worden ist.
Excellent idea!
The Orange “Endorsements” will also backfire in Hungary… Adios, Orban.
Heil, Vance!!
I respectfully disagree, Buster – American endorsements are not going to have a decisive impact on the Hungarian election, because Hungarians, as a whole, are not that vapid and gullible.
