Budapest, December 16 (MTI) – Dozens of supporters of the radical nationalist Jobbik party gathered in front of the Kuria (Supreme Court) on Monday to demonstrate for what they called an independent judiciary.
“Jobbik and the civil groups do not want to exert pressure on the independent court but demand that the non-independent court should become independent,” Jobbik leader Gabor Vona said.
The speaker accused the government of playing for time and being unwilling to genuinely ease the plight of troubled mortgage holders.
The demonstration coincided with a Kuria meeting discussing questions of legal uniformity regarding foreign currency-denominated loans.
The legal uniformity procedure was launched by the Kuria late in November to determine whether FX loan contracts are valid or invalid.
