Budapest, January 4 (MTI) – The opposition Jobbik party sees the current Fidesz cabinet as the all-time most corrupt government of Hungary, spokesman Ádám Mirkóczki said on Wednesday.
At a press conference, the spokesman accused ruling Fidesz of occupying every area where money can be made, such as gambling, arable lands, tobacconists, the media, sports associations and the “residency bond business”, which channelled “billions in black money” to those with close ties to Fidesz.
Jobbik’s goal is to raise the standards of Hungary’s public life and represent all social groups regardless of age, gender, religion and party affiliation in order to make Hungary a better place to live in, Mirkóczki said.
In response, the parliamentary group of Fidesz said that Jobbik wanted to divert attention from its own crisis “with its empty accusations”. By now even Jobbik’s voters have realised that party leader Gábor Vona “descended to doing anything for money and power” and would “even be prepared to join hands with [ex-premier Ferenc] Gyurcsány and the Socialists who led Hungary’s most corrupt government of all times,” it said. The lawmakers of the ruling party accused Vona of having turned his back to the cause of the nation and to Jobbik’s former policy.
