Last Hungarians leave Yemen
Budapest (MTI) – The last remaining Hungarians in Yemen have left the country with the help of the Hungarian diplomatic services, the foreign ministry said on Saturday.
A two-member family stuck in the city of Taiz have been evacuated on land with the help of the Hungarian embassy in Riyadh, the statement said. The two Hungarians crossed over from Yemen to Saudi Arabia on Friday afternoon and are expected to arrive in Hungary on Sunday, it added.
They had earlier thought it was not necessary to ask for consular help but after the security situation deteriorated, they contacted the Hungarian embassy in Riyad.
As a a result, a total of 44 Hungarians have left Yemen, the ministry said.
