Lone wolf on the loose in Pécs
A wolf escaped on Saturday morning from the zoo in Pécs, in southern Hungary, and locals are being warned that the animal is dangerous.
The wolf managed to get over a two-and-a-half-metre electric fence, the zoo’s director told MTI.
The animal arrived from Italy with two kin on Friday.
The forest park around the zoo has been evacuated and hikers have been warned to leave surrounding areas and stay away.
Zoo officials and the authorities are doing everything possible to track down the wolf with a view to stunning the animal, but they are also prepared to shoot it dead if necessary, he said.
