Madách International Theatre Meeting to host 23 performances from 13 countries
The Madách International Theatre Meeting (MITEM) will host 23 performances from 13 countries between April 11 and May 5, the organisers told a press conference on Tuesday.
Held in the Hungarian National Theatre in Budapest, the festival will feature productions from Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Lithuania, Germany, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Portugal, the Czech Republic, France and Sweden.
Theatre groups of ethnic Hungarians outside Hungary will also perform.
The opening performance, “Slava’s Snowshow” by Slava Polunin, has received global critical acclaim since its first staging in 1993, the organisers said.
The piece will be performed at the Capital Circus of Budapest.
The festival will feature works by directors David Doiasvili, Silviu Purcarete, Rimas Tuminas, Eugenio Barba, Eimuntas Nekrosius and Michael Thalheimer, among others.
