Market entry to Austria: ABA and partners host expansion-focused event in Budapest

Austria is considered a stable, secure and economically reliable location – and is internationally renowned for quality, innovation and a high standard of living. For Hungarian companies, their neighbouring country is an ideal first step in their expansion: geographically close, with high purchasing power and a proven test market for the entire DACH region.
The specific opportunities offered by Austria as a business and research location will be the focus of a joint location event organised by the Austrian Business Agency (ABA), ecoplus, the Vienna Business Agency and BABEG on 17 March 2026 in Budapest. The event is aimed at Hungarian companies with expansion plans and offers practical information on market entry, location selection, legal and tax conditions, as well as personal discussions with experts from different regions of Austria.
The fact that more and more Hungarian companies are taking this step is clearly reflected in the figures from the Austrian Business Agency: in 2025, Hungary was the country with the second-highest number of business expansions in Austria supported by the ABA – directly after Germany.
Companies particularly often choose Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, but Carinthia is also becoming increasingly important as a business location. All regions score highly with stable economic conditions, good international accessibility, skilled workers and a high quality of life. Vienna, the second-largest German-speaking city, generates around a quarter of Austria’s economic output and is a central hub for international companies.
