The world’s most beautiful McDonald’s in Budapest will celebrate with free concerts this week!
Many call the Nyugati railway station McDonald’s in Budapest one of the world’s most beautiful places. Eating there feels like you enjoy the convenience of a five-star hotel, a McD guest shared with The New York Post. The newly-renovated McDonald’s, which reopened in August, will celebrate with free concerts and other surprises this week.
Renewed McDonald’s in Budapest celebrates with festivities
According to turizmus.com, McDonald’s will celebrate its August reopening on Friday with free concerts, DJs, Wheel of Fortune, lounge corner and other surprises. The outdoor event will start at 1 PM and last until 9 PM when the celebration will move inside. Well-known Hungarian bands and singers will perform, including Bogi Nagy, Kevin Kiss, the Animal Cannibals, and the Hősök DJ. Thanks to the DJ, the music and dance will not stop.
As part of the event, guests may check out a digital exhibition about the rich history of the magnificent restaurant building and the railway station. Guests can learn more about the buildings, the neighbourhood and the people who ate there a hundred years ago using their smartphones and scanning different QR codes.
When the festivity ends, McD will present its unique entertainment programme, which we do not know too much about yet. However, it will surely be a special experience in the fast-food restaurant universe. They also said the programme would regularly return to the McDonald’s after this Friday.
McDonald’s in Budapest fascinated foreign visitors
The New York Post wrote about the renewed McDonald’s, located in Budapest’s heart, just a couple of blocks from the iconic Hungarian Parliament, that it was the world’s most beautiful one and sitting there is like dining in the restaurant of a 5-star hotel.

Another guest wrote under the tweet that the feeling was like travelling back in time. He was right: the original restaurant operating there opened in 1877. The first McDonald’s unit opened there in 1990.
“The antique lamps and painted stucco ceilings have been refreshed, keeping the vintage designs in place, including the huge glass windows that go around the entire building, as well as copper-covered light fixtures”, The New York Post wrote about the recent renovation of the restaurant. “Touch screen kiosks have been added, and there’s a new outdoor terrace for the McCafé, which has been moved to the entrance level. A second gallery level was added, increasing the total seating capacity to over 280 — including the terrace. There are even special food options, including the Goosey Gustav burger, which has foie gras on top, and gluten-free buns”, they added about the new and modern solutions of the unit, reporting about the brand-new conveyor belt between the two kitchen levels.
“The interior is absolutely beautiful and looks more like a restaurant in a 5-star hotel,” a guest said. “It has a feeling as you travel back in time,” another shared. “This is the most beautiful McDonald’s I’ve been to, been here lots of times over the years, and it still impresses me,” a third claimed.
