Mercury in Hungary hits record winter high
(MTI) – Temperatures reached record highs in Hungary on Friday, the National Meteorological Service said.
The temperature in Bekescsaba, in the southeast of the country, rose to a spring-like 15.5 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, beating the previous record of 15.1 C, set in nearby Korosszakal, on December 27, 2004.
The temperature in the capital reached 12.4 C. on Friday, breaking the record set on the same day in 1974 of 12.2 C.
