On Tuesday 18 August 2026, Spanish state-run TVE broadcasted information about a “contingency plan” by Pedro Sánchez’s government.
This plan would include the cessation of gas exports to Morocco in the event of a mass crossing into Ceuta.
This information, relayed by several Spanish media, was denied the same evening by the government.
Spain has reportedly denied reports that it is preparing a plan, including potential economic measures against Morocco, in response to the recent mass crossings into Ceuta.
Subsequently, the government denied this information to Electomanía and refuted that it is working on such a plan.
The Spanish government denies the Report after the information broadcast by RTVE became public.
Government sources contacted Electomanía to refute it, denying that the government is working on the aforementioned contingency plan regarding Morocco.
It is worth noting that Spain and Morocco share strong cooperation in different sectors, including trade.
