Tragedy: Missing hiker found in Hungary weeks after disappearance

A tragic discovery was made on Sunday morning in the Pilis Mountains, where the body of a hiker who had been missing for weeks was found, according to a statement by the Pest County Police Headquarters.
Missing since early September
The hiker, 27-year-old Nikolett Kaszás, set out from Budapest on 7 September to hike in the Pilis Mountains but never returned. Since that day, she had not made any contact, sparking a large-scale search effort involving authorities and volunteers.
Large search operation mobilised for the hiker
On Sunday, 28 September, more than 500 people gathered in Pilisszentlászló to assist in the search, which was coordinated by the Pest County Police Headquarters. The area was divided into sectors for a systematic inspection. The operation was supported by the Pest County Search and Rescue Service, neighbourhood watch patrols, and civilian volunteers.
The Search and Rescue Service had previously reported that by Saturday, they had already examined 184 kilometres of hiking trails and their surroundings in an effort to locate the missing woman.
Discovery near last known location
The search on Sunday focused on the area around Kaszás’s last known location, which ultimately led to the discovery of her body.
For the time being, police have not released further details regarding the circumstances of her death.
