NATO AWACS aircraft to participate in Hungary military exercise
Budapest, August 27 (MTI) – NATO will deploy an E3A AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) aircraft in Hungary to participate in a military exercise in mid September, daily Napi Gazdasag said on Thursday.
The exercise will provide training for air rescue operations, the paper said.
The AWACS aircraft designed to carry out airborne surveillance will support the operation of NATO units planned to be involved in the resolution of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, the paper said.
NATO will also deploy another 22 aircraft for the exercise at the Papa military airbase in northwestern Hungary. These will likely inlcude medical evacuation MEDEVAC helicopters, the paper said.
The exercise code named Combined Joint Personnel Recovery Standardisation Course – CJPRSC 2015 will also involve 400 military officers from 12 countries, it said.
