New Wizz Air Routes from Budapest to Lisbon and Maastricht
Wizz Air announced the launch of two new routes to Lisbon and Maastricht in Budapest on 25 August, 2014 as well as further expansion in the Central European Region.
Wizz Air will offer two new destinations from spring 2015, Lisbon (twice a week) and Maastricht (four times a week). You can already book a ticket!
In addition to the new routes, there will be further expansion in the region. The company announced a 15% growth to be expected in 2015. A number of extra flights will be added too. Currently, the airline offers 37 routes to 21 countries. What is more, a ninth Airbus A320 will be added to the Wizz Air fleet.
The CEO, Mr VÁRADI, said in the press conference:
“Wizz Air keeps expanding operations and continues to grow passenger traffic, create new local jobs and boost tourism in Hungary. I expect that our new services to Portugal and the Netherlands and the increased capacity on existing services will be welcomed by consumers as we continuously strive to offer low fares and optional services that best meet the needs of our customers.”
Wizz Air is “the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe”. The company was founded in 2003 and the first flights were launched in 2004.
They sum up their services on the official website as follows: “ticketless travel, use of cost- and time-efficient secondary airports, single class all-leather seat configuration, no seat assignment and catering on demand for extra payment”.
