Coronavirus – Catholic Church suspending public worship from Sunday
The Catholic Church in Hungary is suspending public worship from Sunday in light of the novel coronavirus epidemic.
Churches will not close altogether but will only administer “simple and short” funerals, the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference (MKPK) said on Tuesday.
The MKPK has asked priests and bishops to celebrate scheduled masses in churches and chapels, and many of these will be broadcast online.
Public service media will broadcast masses on Sunday and public holidays.
Further, the MKPK has asked congregations to arrange prayers for those affected by the epidemic while observing related regulations by the authorities.
