No support for TTIP unless environmental concerns addressed, says national committee
Budapest, December 3 (MTI) – Signing a free trade agreement between the United States and the European Union (TTIP) is unacceptable unless effective international regulations are negotiated concerning environment pollution and before the agreement is harmonised with the sustainability development objectives of the United Nations, Hungary’s National Sustainable Development Council decided.
At a session on Thursday, the council, headed by House Speaker Laszlo Kover, adopted the position with 16 votes for, one against, and with one abstention.
The council also approved a progress report on Hungary’s Sustainable Development Strategy to be tabled in parliament.
