Olympics In Hungary “More Than Dream”
(MTI) – Hosting the Olympic Summer Games has now become more than a dream for Hungary, business daily Napi Gazdasag said on Monday.
“If all pull in the same direction, Budapest can present a credible, competitive application for hosting the 2028 Olympics,” Zsolt Borkai, the president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, told the paper.
The deadline for submitting the bid to the International Olympic Committee is 2019. he said.
“It is a major challenge involving the construction of several sports complexes and appropriate facilities for transferring millions of people on land, air and water,” he said.
Borkai, who is also mayor of Gyor in north-western Hungary, noted that his city would host the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival which he said might be a dress rehearsal for the 2029 Olympics.
