Orbán arrives in Egypt for official visit
Cairo (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán arrived in Egypt on Tuesday, where he will hold talks with officials over the next two days.
Orbán was greeted at the Cairo airport by his Egyptian counterpart, Sherif Ismail.
Travelling in Orban’s delegation are Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, Economy Minister Mihály Varga, National Development Minister Miklós Seszták, Defence Minister István Simicskó and Agriculture Minister Sándor Fazekas. All ministers are scheduled to meet their Egyptian counterparts.
Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister’s press chief, told MTI that on Wednesday Orbán will hold talks with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah el-Sisi, after which the two countries’ representatives will sign several agreements. One of the agreements will be a 900 million euro financing offer for Egypt’s order of 700 Hungarian railway carriages.
Orbán will later meet the secretary-general of the Arab League and on Wednesday evening he will address an Egyptian-Hungarian business forum.
On Thursday, the prime minister will hold talks with Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed el-Tayeb, Grand Imam of al-Azhar Mosque. He will later meet the director of Cairo’s Coptic Orthodox Cultural Center.
