Kazan (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orban held talks with Rustam Minnikhanov, the president of the Republic of Tatarstan, in Kazan on Friday evening, the prime minister’s press chief told MTI.
Economic issues were also raised during the negotiations, Bertalan Havasi said.
Both politicians welcomed the recent opening of Hungary’s general-consulate in Kazan.
They agreed on the need to increase the trade turnover between Hungary and Tatarstan, with the limitations of the EU sanctions kept in view.
Orban and Minnikhanov agreed that establishing joint ventures would be a possible form of intensifying economic relations, particularly in the health industry and agriculture.
On Sunday, the last day of the 2015 World Aquatics Championships, Orban will take over the flag of the International Swimming Federation FINA as the representative of Hungary, the host country of the 2017 world championships.
Further, he is scheduled to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.
