Budapest (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with former president of the European Parliament and Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Hans-Gert Poettering in parliament on Tuesday, Orbán’s press chief said.
They reviewed Hungary-Germany relations and the cooperation between centre-right and civic forces, Bertalan Havasi said. They were in agreement that a strong European Union needed a strong Hungary, he added.
Orbán said the government had a positive opinion about the activities of the foundation in Hungary because they contribute to “informing our German friends about domestic policy trends in Hungary and the governing activities of the Fidesz-Christian Democrats” parties.
The European political situation and the recent US presidential elections were also discussed in detail, Havasi said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Hungarian edition of Poettering’s auto-biography was presented at an event at the Budapest Business School.
