Orbán meets with US-Hungary Business Council delegation
Budapest, June 24 (MTI) – US companies operating in Hungary give jobs to a hundred thousand people, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said during a meeting with the non-profit US-Hungary Business Council, in Parliament, on Friday.
The sides welcomed US-Hungarian economic cooperation as a “real success story” as the US is the largest investor in Hungary outside the European Union, head of the prime minister’s press office Bertalan Havasi told MTI.
Altogether 1,600 US companies invested more than 9 billion dollars in Hungary so far. The Hungarian government has signed strategic agreements with ten US firms, Havasi said.
A delegation of the USHBC is in Budapest for a three-day business mission organised in Hungary for the first time, which ends today. The delegation met with Economy Minister Mihály Varga, and officials from all ministries.
The companies Bell Helicopter Textron, BorgWarner, Coca-Cola Company, Guardian Industries, Hungrana, Lilly, MetLife and Owens-Illinois are participating in the delegation.
