Estonian government: PM Orbán part of Putin’s team, Hungary may lose its voting right – UPDATE: FM Szijjártó

Politicians of the Baltic countries and even Poland, our thousand-year-long friend, have been slamming the Hungarian government for its “pro-Putin” stance. Estonian FM Margus Tsahkna recently talked about Orbán, identified him as a Putin team member and added that Hungary might lose its voting rights in the EU Council.
The Estonian foreign minister suggested how important unanimous votes would be in an era of Russian aggression and how crucial it would be for Europe to arm itself against Moscow’s growing threat. In that regard, he suggested that there was a European unity broken only by Orbán’s Hungary. Even though Orbán talks about division in Europe concerning Ukraine, Russia and the arming of the continent, the Estonian foreign minister suggested there was no such thing, only Hungary’s pro-Russia position.
Orbán part of Putin’s team, says Estonia
“Let’s be honest: to be divided, you need two big parties. With Hungary, we have a very weak country that is part of Putin’s team, not part of our European team,” he highlighted.

Therefore, he said, Hungary might lose its voting rights in the EU Council. “Article 7 of the Treaty on European Union allows a member state to be deprived of its voting rights if its membership endangers the security of Europe and other members. This is exactly what [Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor] Orbán is doing,” Tsahkna said.
Hungary cannot access billions of RRF and development funds due to rule of law concerns, and 444.hu pointed out that the forming new German government coalition also discussed the issue of depriving member states that seriously violate the fundamental values of the EU.
Estonian FM among ‘most fanatical pro-war voices’, says FM Szijjártó
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna is “one of Europe’s most fanatical pro-war voices — pushing to prolong the war in Ukraine while lecturing others on the risks of escalation”, Péter Szijjártó, the Hungarian foreign minister, said on social media on Sunday. Szijjártó responded to Tsahkna’s call for the suspension of Hungary’s European Union voting rights.
