PM Orbán: Trump will bring peace to Ukraine—if we resist the sirens of war
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has accepted an invitation to Sharm el-Sheikh to attend the signing ceremony of the Gaza Peace Plan. He highlighted the emergence of a “network for peace” operating worldwide, collaborating to achieve peace in conflict zones such as Ukraine.
Orbán declares a historic day
Orbán described today as one that will be remembered for years to come. This morning, he announced the restoration of the Gödöllő Royal Palace alongside OTP Bank CEO Sándor Csányi. The ambitious project will invest HUF 40 billion (102 million euros) into rejuvenating the iconic Hungarian royal castle, with half of the funding provided by the bank.

Trump to make peace in Ukraine, says Orbán
Later, Orbán will fly to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to attend the signing ceremony and peace summit for the Gaza Peace Plan. He expressed pride in standing alongside US President Donald Trump—his long-time ally—and the leaders of Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar.
Orbán called the peace plan a landmark achievement and stated that, unless we succumb to the temptations of war, Trump has the ability to broker peace even in Ukraine. “We will offer all possible support to make this happen,” he affirmed.
“Regardless of geographical location, size, or political influence, a global peace network is emerging—from the Middle East to the Caucasus and Ukraine—that works together for peace. Hungary is proud to be part of this peace network, a coalition of ordinary people,” he concluded.
Zelensky also hopeful
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Sunday that US President Donald Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan provides “hope” that a similar approach could end the Russia-Ukraine war. “Of course, it gives signals for us, and hope that with such pressure, what President Trump used in (the) Middle East to make peace, and I hope that he will use the same instrument – even more – to pressure (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to stop his war in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy told Fox News.
On 6 October, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Russia’s President Vladimir Putin was not ready yet for peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. “You see, at the moment the Russian president does not want to negotiate, he wants to bomb and we must oppose this more strongly and there will come a day when he is ready to negotiate,” Merz told private broadcaster n-tv.
Qatar says Hamas open to discussing how it ‘won’t pose threat for Israel’
Qatar’s prime minister said Hamas has expressed openness to discussing ways it would no longer “pose a threat to Israel,” but talks on sensitive issues such as the group’s weapons were postponed because the warring sides were not ready for a comprehensive deal, according to an interview published Sunday, the Turkish Anadolu news agency wrote.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who also serves as the country’s foreign minister, said mediators decided to delay negotiations on Hamas’ arsenal after helping broker the Gaza ceasefire agreement that halted the Israeli genocide, The New York Times reported.

Israel, Hamas agreed on first phase
US President Donald Trump announced last Wednesday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of a plan he laid out 29 September to bring a ceasefire to Gaza, release all Israeli captives being held there in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the entire Gaza Strip. The first phase of the deal came into force on Friday.
Phase two of the plan calls for the establishment of a new governing mechanism in Gaza without Hamas’ participation, the formation of a multinational force, and the disarmament of Hamas.

Weakness is the “siren of war” for a total opportunist like Putin and Orban constantly strives to keep Europe weak by opposing arming Ukraine to resist Russia. When Putin finally realizes that he can’t win he will stop his war. The more the West arms itself in response to Putin’s aggression the sooner Putin will back off. With his aggression he has provoked the rearmament of Europe and that will foil his expansionist plans. We are truly in a new Cold War that Putin has pushed even futher into hybrid or grey zone attacks on the West such as arson, sabotage and cyber attacks. Just as the last Cold War bankrupted the corrupt USSR this new Cold War given time will bankrupt the corrupt Russian regime of Putin. As John McCain said “I have no illusions or worry about the long-term future of Russia. Russia is now a gas station masquerading as a country.”
